Udaipur Udajpur is a city in Rajasthan, India. The old town is steeped in history, it is the historical home of royalty and a current tourist favourite. Udajpur is referred to as the 'Venice of the East' and its beautiful lakes have been the backdrop for several movies including the James Bond film, “Octopussy". Udaipur is part of the Mewar kingdom famous for its courtesy to guests, do not hesitate to ask the locals for directions and tips, however, be weary of asking shop-keepers for help. Most attractions can be seen on foot, but if you wish to see more of the surrounding area a rickshaw or taxi is a good idea. The nearby Wilderness Park and Monsoon Palace are well worth a visit.
